About this course

5G is an immesely disruptive technology that is progressively deeply transforming our world, and we have merely grasp the benefits that 5G will directly or indirectly provide. This course allows in an easy, descriptive way to iniciate your knowlegde on the development of EVOLVED-5G NetApps to facilitate 5G Programmability and the exploitation of 5G to provide benefits in any area, from industry to city services, that has an important impact on quotidian aspects in our daily life.

  • How to develop a NetApp
  • How to use the most important software tools that can assist you in the development a NetApp
  • How to install and use the EVOLVED-5G SDK for creating NetApps
  • How to start coding your NetApp from a generic NetApp template
  • How to use SDK libraries for exploiting 5G Core functionality in an easy manner

Prerrequisites

This online course has no special prerequisites, but programming skills and some knowlege on Python is desirable, as well as 5G technical background.

Teachers

First Module

Dr. Harilaos Koumaras

Dr. Harilaos Koumaras is a research assistant professor at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of NCSR "Demokritos", Greece. He has published more than 100 articles focused on 5G/B5G systems, network virtualization, SDN/NFV, MANO, and quality of service/experience in media delivery. He is the Technical Manager of the EVOLVED-5G project.

Nikos Vrionis

Nikos Vrionis is a software developer of INFOLYSiS. He is currently a 5G NetApp programmer in the frame of the H2020 EVOLVED-5G innovation project, as well as applications taking advantage of the NetApp potential, such as a ChatBot for fabric machinery maintenance.

Second Module

Dr. Ricardo Marco

Ricardo Marco works at ATOS Research & Innovation department, and he has performed research on wireless mobile networks, software defined radio and network function virtualization. He has participated in European projects related to 5G networks and virtualization.

Alexandros Tzoumas

Alexandros Tzoumas is a Software engineer working at Maggioli with more than 15 years of experience in building IT systems in Telecom, Banking, Retail and Travel sector. He has been engaged in various roles in technology start-ups and participated in the technical implementation of European open source projects.

Dr. Regel González Usach

Regel G. Usach is a Research & Development engineer at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), at the Real-Time System Laboratory. She has participated in 5G-related European H2020 projects such as EVOLVED-5G and 5GENESIS. Among other software developments, she has been a developer of the 5GENESIS technical demonstration for the 5G Limassol Platform, which mixed 5G with Artificial Intelligence, dronics and IoT technologies.

Paula Encinar

Paula Encinar, working at ATOS at the Research and Innovation department, has participated in 3 European projects related to 5G networks, as well as to network virtualization, cloud management and Kubernetes clusters. She has also developed several automation tools.
